Read Up A Storm @ Your Library


The Children's Summer Reading Club 2005 is  Read Up a Storm @ Your Library.  It runs June 29 to August 10. It is open to readers (grades K-4) and pre-readers (babies, toddlers and preschoolers) who read (or hear) 6 or more books during the summer. Register at Essex starting June 13.

Six Special Events will be held at the Knights of  Columbus Hall, 28 Fish Road, Tiverton.

Tickets will be available at the Knights Hall 1/2 hour before each program on a first-come basis to 260 children and parents/caregivers unless otherwise noted.

Summer Reading Picks

Dorrie's pick for summer reading: Eragon, by Christopher Paolino. (RI Teen Book Award 2005) in Aagaesia, a 15 year old boy of unknown lineage called Eragon, finds a mysterious stone that weaves his life into an intricate tapestry of destiny, magic, and power, peopled with dragons, elves, and monsters.

Janet's Summer book pick for children or young adults: The Young Man and the Sea, by Rodman Philbrick. With a nod to Ernest Hemingway, this award winning novelist presents a story about a boy,  Read it this summer!

Teen Summer Activities



Interested in acting, writing, filmmaking, weaving, beadmaking, origami, poetry, art, or robotics?

Can't  wait to discuss the latest book you read or or heard? Would you like to share the latest Japanese Anime film?

These are a few of the topics you can explore this summer. 

If you are entering grades 6 to 12, join other teens who share your interests and develop your skills in this summer's teen programs.

Do you want to relax and read? You can do that too! The Teen Summer Reading Program 2005 runs June 22 to August 12.  Just keep track of how long you read, and you can enter to win prizes.  Registration begins June 22.
