Eight Rod Way: Tiverton’s Colonial Superhighway and the Workforce Living on It

Wednesday, February 12th, 6:30-7:30pm, Community Room

The first Plymouth Colony subdivision of land that eventually became Tiverton was the Pocasset Purchase of 1681. It included 30 “great lots” and a 132-foot wide “proprietor’s way”. This presentation will explain why 3.5 miles of that original highway remain undeveloped in preserved wild forest, but was once home to Blacks who labored in two of Tiverton‘s early industries. Presented by Garry Plunkett.
