In Honor of John Fitzgerald
To honor the memory of long time staff, John K. Fitzgerald, the library Trustees will use donations received for an outdoor reading area with a bench, shade tree and dedication plaque.
John worked at the Tiverton Libraries for 17 years as head of circulation and cataloging. He was the go to person for library customers and staff. If you needed something, you asked John.
John was the face of the library to many. He was there to help with any request – no matter how obscure a book, John would find it and get it into the hands of the customer. He moved boxes of books, furniture, delivered donated food to the soup kitchens and gifts at Christmas time. He was so willing to help, that he even ruined a couple of shoes at the Essex Library during floods, of water and waste. No project was too big or small for him to take on. His had a generous and charismatic nature.
